The National Assembly of Zambia joined the APRN in 2005 and MPs, parliamentary staff and representatives have since taken part of various training sessions on Community Monitoring of Poverty.
Zambia chose to evaluate the government’s Food Security Pack program for their community monitoring pilot project. Going into several camps in Kafue District, researchers discovered that the Food Security Pack is useful in increasing food security of viable but vulnerable farmers; however, the program needs to be made more flexible in order to adapt to natural and socio-economic factors.
For more information about the pilot project, please contact: Ms. Monica Sampa, Committee Clerk: kapesom@yahoo.com
